OPENING FOR WORSHIP SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER

OPENING FOR WORSHIP SUNDAY 6 SEPTEMBER

We intend to resume worship in Weoley Hill Church on Sunday 6th September 2020. These will be shorter, simplified services that match the online service and printed sheets (which we will continue to provide Click Here) for the foreseeable future.

We will offer communion on first Sundays, with safety precautions in place.

General procedures:

The service will be held in church following the government guidelines.
Everyone will be required to wear a face covering and use the hand sanitising facilities provided. An infra-red non-contact thermometer may be used to measure temperatures. Social distancing and a one way access system will be maintained. Please follow the signs and only use alternate pews. No cushions, hymn books or bibles will be provided. Members of the congregation will need to provide their own and take them home afterwards.

As currently required, only the choir will sing, distancing will be observed, the collection plates will not be passed hand to hand, and numbers will be limited. A record of those attending will be kept.for 21 days to assist the "track and Trace" system.

Communion

The people who prepare the elements will wear masks and gloves; the bread will be cut in advance and both bread and cups will be spaced out on trays. We will use the central aisle to go to the altar to take the elements, then return to our seats via the side aisles, maintaining safe distances from each other. Anyone who cannot manage this will be served where they sit. Communion will then proceed as usual. Serving everyone where they sit has not been ruled out, but we will try taking the elements from the altar first.
